Want to know how to bet on CS: GO matches? You’ve come to the right place!

The series of Counter-Strike games became iconic first-person shooters attracting millions of fans, including gamers in Tanzania.

In the game, two teams — the Terrorists and the Counter-Terrorists — compete against each other. Both sides aim to eliminate the other one or fulfill a specific task. The Terrorists try to plant a bomb or keep hostages. At the same time, Counter-Terrorists are willing to prevent the planting of a bomb, defuse the bomb, or save the hostages.

Lots of CS GO tournaments have been organized since the release of the game in 2012. These days, Counter-Strike is one of the top esports (electronic sports) in the world and Parimatch is leading the way in CS GO betting.

We’re dedicated to arming you with the best esports betting tips, and today we’ll look at how to bet on CS GO. Let’s dive in!

What Is so Cool about Counter Strike Betting?

It’s no secret that betting on CSGO for money is gaining popularity across Africa in countries like Tanzania. You might be asking yourself, how come?

Here are some of the biggest reasons why people are logging in and placing their wagers online with the Parimatch betting app.

There is money to be won!

The numbers don’t lie. In 2016, the esports industry generated $463 million in revenue — fast forward to 2020 and that number increases to $1.8 billion. However, it was only the beginning.

All of this money circulating throughout the esports industry translates into higher jackpots and more ways to win.

The popularity of esports is on the rise

Year after year the esports industry boasts significant viewership growth. Since 2015 the esports industry has seen an average growth rate of 14% from the previous year.

Esports has become so popular that the term was recently recognized as an official word in the dictionary. There are tons of local and major tournaments around the globe that are followed by millions of players. Here are some of the top CS:GO leagues you should start following right now:

Remember when Facebook first came out and all of a sudden you started hearing everyone talk about this crazy new thing called social media? Esports is kind of like that.

Esports betting is relatable

Oftentimes, bettors feel disconnected from the sports they are wagering on.

For example, imagine a football match played in the beautiful Allianz Arena in Germany. Unless you are incredibly fortunate, you probably haven’t had a chance to play a match with your mates on such a prestigious pitch.

Now, whenever you fire up your console and join a multiplayer game, you experience the same exact environment that professional esports competitors play in. That’s pretty cool, right?

What’s more is that some of the biggest icons in esports look just like average Joe’s. Chances are they worked typical 9 to 5 jobs not long before ascending to stardom. Just listen to one of the post match interviews and you’ll understand.

There’s lots of variety in esports betting

With the surging growth of the esports industry comes more ways to bet on your favorite games than ever before. It really boils down to simple supply and demand economics.

There is so much demand for ways to bet on esports and Parimatch is answering the call.

It wasn’t long ago when the only game you could bet on was the iconic multiplayer arena game, League of Legends. With Parimatch you can bet on a variety of popular esports like Counter-Strike, Dota 2, Starcraft 2, and many more.

How to read CS: GO odds on Parimatch

Esports may have reinvented the wheel but don’t worry, reading and calculating odds is very similar to traditional athletic sports.

Parimatch uses decimal odds which make it simple and easy for users to understand.

How to calculate CS GO implied probability with Parimatch odds

Converting decimal odds to implied probability is easier than tying your shoes.

The equation is simple:

(1/decimal odds) * 100 = Implied Probability

Vitality vs compLexity in CS GO esports betting on Parimatch

To calculate the implied probability of Vitality winning, the equation would look like this:

(1/1.5*) * 100 = 66.6%

Therefore, according to decimal odds of 1.50, Vitality has a 66.6% chance of winning.

How to work out the CS GO favourite from Parimatch odds

You can use implied probability to work out the favourite team on CS GO. However, if you want a quick way of calculating the favourite without doing any maths, simply look at which team has the lower odds.

The team with the lower odds is the favourite.

Think of the old adage “high risk, high return”. If a team has high odds, the bet is a high risk. Therefore if a team has low odds, it’s a low risk.

Let’s look at an example. Below is a typical Counter-Strike bet:

Vitality vs compLexity in CS GO esports betting on Parimatch

From this, you can see that team Vitality has odds of 1.5 and team compLexity has odds of 2.48.

In this example, Vitality are the favourites.

How to calculate CS GO potential winnings with Parimatch odds

To calculate your potential winnings on Counter-Strike, you can use Parimatch’s decimal odds as they directly relate to your prospective profit margin.

The math is simple. To work out how much money you would make on your bet:

  1. Multiply your stake by the odds shown on the Parimatch website. This will give you the full returns that you will receive.
  2. To work out your profit, minus the original stake from your winnings.

Your stake x decimal odds = total return
Total return – your stake = total profit

Here’s an example:

Vitality vs compLexity in CS GO esports betting on Parimatch

You already know that team Vitality is favored to win. If you were to bet on Vitality, you’d be betting on odds of 1.50.

If you were to bet 10,000 TZS on Vitality to win, you would multiply your stake by the 1.50 odds.

This gives you a potential return of 15,000 TZS. Now, minus your original stake of 10,000 TZS. This gives you a total profit of 5,000 TZS if Vitality wins.

10,000 x 1.5 = 15,000
15,000 – 10,000 = 5,000

Bet Types in CS GO and Other Esports

This is where it gets interesting. Sure you can place traditional moneyline, handicap, or total bets but have you ever heard of betting on types of kills or first-blood?

Continue reading for a refresher on traditional ways to bet as well as CSGO wagers unique to esports.

Betting on CS:GO moneyline bets

Just like with traditional athletic sports, when you place a moneyline bet, you are wagering on which team you think is going to win.

You simply pick a team to win and if they win, you win.

Let’s take a look at a moneyline bet on Parimatch:

From these odds you can determine that Heroic is the favourite as their odds are lower.

If you were to bet 10,000 TZS on Heroic to win and they beat Sprout, you’d make 4,000 TZS profit. If there were a draw, your stake would be returned. If Sprout wins, you would lose your original 10,000 TZS stake.

Betting on CS:GO handicap bets

Handicap betting means giving or taking round wins to one of the teams involved before the game even starts, making the odds closer and more fun to wager on.

A helpful way to look at the handicap is thinking of the rounds played in CS GO like goals being scored in a football match. In football, every goal scored brings you closer to victory whereas in Counter-Strike, each winning round gets you [one step closer to winning.

Let’s look at a typical CS:GO handicap bet:

What you see here is that the bookmaker implemented a 1.5 handicap and you have four options to choose from. You can pick Sprout to win with a (+1.5) handicap, Sprout to win with a (-1.5) handicap, Heroic to win with a (-1.5) handicap, or Heroic to lose with a (+1.5) handicap.

The decimal odds are skewed depending on the handicap. For example, the original moneyline odds have Sprout at 2.80 indicating they are the underdog. After you apply a (+1.5) handicap the odds go down to 1.60.

If you backed Sprout with a (-1.5) handicap, the odds shoot all the way up to 6.00. This is because they were already the underdog and are now also facing a deficit before the match even begins.

If you pick the underdog with a (-) handicap, you stand to win a whole lot of money, but you’re also taking a much bigger risk. The equal and opposite is true if you pick the favourite to win with a (+) handicap applied.

Betting on CS:GO total wagers

Sometimes the two teams are so similarly matched in skill that it’s hard to make a confident bet on who you think will win. That’s where total bets come into play.

When you are betting on CS:GO in a total bet market — you are essentially wagering on how long you think the game will last.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has a winner when one team wins two maps, otherwise known as best of three. In a total market, you would be wagering on how many total maps you think would need to be played in order for a winner to be determined.

Take this for example:

You can see that the total is set at 2.5 and you also see the decimal odds for backing the over or the under. The favourite is the under at 1.70 odds. This means that the bookmaker believes that it is most likely for one of the teams to win the first two matches, rendering a third match unnecessary.

If you select the over it means you think that the teams will split the first two rounds and the match won’t be determined until a third and final round is played.

Betting on CS:GO types of kills

The fundamental objective in CS:GO is to eliminate the other team, by any means necessary. Do you think that one of the teams will kill an opponent from the other team with a knife? Well, you should bet on that and Parimatch lets you.

Here’s what that bet would look like:

Close combat encounters are rare in Counter-Strike, most of the killing is done with projectiles or explosions from grenades. Looking at these odds tells that story. You can see that the odds of a knife kill in map 1 are at 5.55 indicating that it is very unlikely to happen.

If you bet on a knife kill in map 1 at 5.55 odds and you were right — you would make a very nice profit but it’s a big risk.

Betting on CS:GO first kills

Which team do you think will get the first kill? It really is as simple as that. Parimatch gives you the option to bet on which team you think will get the first kill of a round.

Here’s what the odds look like:

First kill in Counter Strike esports betting on Parimatch

It’s definitely not easy to predict which team you think will knockout the first player. With such close odds, you can see that the bookmakers are having a tough time determining that as well.

Betting on CS:GO race to 5 or 10 rounds

In CS GO, a race to 5 or 10 rounds market is one where you would be betting on which team you think will be the first to win either 5 or 10 rounds. If you’re backing Heroic to win the match but you have a sneaky suspicion that Sprout will be the first team to win 5 rounds, then this bet is for you.

A typical race to 5 rounds bet on Parimatch will look like this:

Race to 5 rounds in Counter Strike esports betting on Parimatch

Here you see that since Heroic has lower odds, they are favored to be the first team to accumulate 5 round wins.

Betting on CS:GO ways of ending

There are four different ways for a round to end in Counter-Strike:

  1. All members of a team have been eliminated
  2. Counter-terrorist team defuses the bomb
  3. Terrorist team successfully detonates the bomb
  4. Elapsed time has expired

In a way of ending market — you are betting on how you think a round will end.

Here’s what it looks like:

Way of ending in CC: GO esports betting on Parimatch

Looking at these odds you are able to draw some conclusions. You can see that the most likely way for a round to end in CS:GO is by one team eliminating all of the other players.

If the terrorist team plants the bomb and then the counter-terrorist team defuses said bomb, the round will end. This is the second most common way for a Counter-Strike round to conclude.

Although not likely, sometimes the terrorist team is successful in planting and detonating the bomb. The odds of the bomb being detonated really depend on the strategies of each CS:GO team.

Do your research

Most esports have dedicated websites for tracking professional player performance and CS:GO is no different. Be sure to research player statistics to help give you a better picture of what each team is up against.

Pay attention to the news

At the end of the day, the esports pros are human. Unforeseen circumstances could lead to a player being swapped out before the match.

Just like with traditional athletics, roster moves and player substitutions are common in esports. Make sure you are up-to-date on the current state of a lineup.

Build your game knowledge

Even if you have the greatest betting tools known to man at your disposal, they won’t help you much if you don’t know what’s going on in the game.

One of the best ways to improve your Counter-Strike bet tactics is to play the game. If you have the ability to play the game for yourself then you will have a better understanding of what the professionals are facing.

If you don’t enjoy playing or don’t have the means to play, watch streamers instead.

Read the forums

Read about other online bettors’ opinions. Of course, you shouldn’t blindly place a Counter-Strike bet based off of someone else’s opinion, but you may discover a perspective that you had not thought of before.

Looking at the game through a different lens will help you to broaden your own perspective on what you think is going to happen in a match.

Conclusion

Esports is a billion-dollar industry and is growing year-after-year. Betting on CS:GO is a fun and exciting way to immerse yourself in this worldwide phenomenon.

You are now equipped with all the knowledge and tools necessary to place a winning Counter-Strike bet with Parimatch.
